The role of attorney general as titular head of Jersey’s honorary police

Abstract

Jersey’s system of honorary policing is unique. The status of the
Attorney General as titular head of the Honorary Police is one of the
functions which attracts little public attention. This article examines
the origin and extent of the Attorney General’s rights and duties in
respect of the Honorary Police and considers whether the role should
continue.
